What is BellaÂ
Bella is a part of the next generation of renders, specialising in fast spectral rendering. Providing more accurate and superior lighting and colour accuracy to enhance the realism in your scenes. Bella is one of few perpetually based licence models, prioritising an amazing, value for money product.Â
With two different solvers, Atlas and Saturn, you’ll find that whatever you are rendering you can make quick work of producing high end visualisations. With the Saturn solver able to handle exteriors and product visualisation scenes like jewellery. The Atlas solver is best used for complex caustics like swimming pools.
Bella also offers flexibility, coming in as a standalone render engine but also as a plug-in to Rhino, Maya and SketchUp! While not all of these are MacOS compatible, Bella is.Â
Key Features
Aside from the spectral rendering Bella also has layered materials allowing light to naturally interact with textures.Â
The Thin film node is able to simulate nanometer-scale films which can create an iridescent effect, perfect for bubbles and reflective surfaces.
Bella’s textures also use a node-based structure. This allows outputs from one texture to be used as inputs for others, creating a flexible system that can create complex texturing workflows.Â
With a Physical sky and sun as well as procedural lighting you can create truly unique, but also realistic, lighting set ups.Â

Why it’s differentÂ
What makes Bella stand out is more than the product itself, they have a clear philosophy in creating a simple, clear product. The ideals also extend to not having annual subscriptions and machine locked licences while also keeping licensing simple, your licence comes to you as a text file, and that’s all you need. Along with this they also have a discord community to ask questions, share ideas, thoughts, issues or just chat about rendering.Â
Continuing the simplicity, if you wish to try Bella all you need to do is download and install the core software. Without a licence found it will just run in demo mode, with some limitations like a watermark and locked resolution this allows you to pick it up whenever you have spare time and are not limited to a week of use!
